We cannot solve problems with the same thinking that created the problem. We must change the way we think.
-Mary Marx... adaptation from Einstein
Children playing happily at the table used to once be looked at the perfect opportunity to catch up in the folding laundry department or any other household chore.
It is now looked at a chance to jump in and play, while getting to really know my kids. I used to have clutter floating around this house caused by my distraction to technology. I now have clutter floating around this house caused by opportunities to play with my kids.
I've recently read the book "Hands Free Mama." It was a huge eye opener for me. I didn't realize how distracted I am really am by technology.
Now I'm seeing how many miss opportunities I would have had with my kids. How many little moments have I not gotten to be part of because I was too distracted by my phone? I would have missed these chubby little fingers working so hard to shape her play-doh.
How many conversations have I missed hearing? How many silly stories have I missed?
I'm ready to play and be the mom I want my kids to remember me as. I'm ready to let go of my past distractions. I promises to stop and enjoy each and every 'little' moment.
Ready to be spontaneous. Ready to have picnics in the living room in the middle of winter. I'm ready to leave the laundry to fold after the kids are tucked in bed and peacefully sleeping.
Head over Leann's way next.
