8:52 Motivational Monday

We cannot solve problems with the same thinking that created the problem. We must change the way we think.
-Mary Marx... adaptation from Einstein
Children playing happily at the table used to once be looked at the perfect opportunity to catch up in the folding laundry department or any other household chore.
It is now looked at a chance to jump in and play, while getting to really know my kids. I used to have clutter floating around this house caused by my distraction to technology. I now have clutter floating around this house caused by opportunities to play with my kids.
I've recently read the book "Hands Free Mama." It was a huge eye opener for me. I didn't realize how distracted I am really am by technology.
Now I'm seeing how many miss opportunities I would have had with my kids. How many little moments have I not gotten to be part of because I was too distracted by my phone? I would have missed these chubby little fingers working so hard to shape her play-doh.
How many conversations have I missed hearing? How many silly stories have I missed?
I'm ready to play and be the mom I want my kids to remember me as. I'm ready to let go of my past distractions. I promises to stop and enjoy each and every 'little' moment.
Ready to be spontaneous. Ready to have picnics in the living room in the middle of winter.  I'm ready to leave the laundry to fold after the kids are tucked in bed and peacefully sleeping.

After a storm comes a calm.
-Matthew Henry
My calm comes somewhere after tucking in the kids, reading them each a book, and saying prayers. Somewhere after coming back upstairs. Somewhere in those moments that the calmness really sinks in. Somewhere in those moments that you actually see the trail of objects that linger from one end of the house to the other.

Probably he who never made a mistake, never made a discovery.
-Samuel Smiles
Anne is on the move. If you make the mistake of dropping even the smallest of scraps, Anne will discover it. Over the last few weeks her speed has doubled. Along with the moving comes pulling and climbing. She is way to little! She pulls herself up and usually gets herself stuck. Now that she can reach a little higher, she's pulling herself up a little higher. We now know the I'm stuck cry.
We are switching up the rotation for this month so head over to Leann's blog next.

Never, Never, Never give up.
-Winston Churchill
Dear child of mine,
Never, never, never give up trying to learn!
As much as you might struggle or how hard you think it might be.
Never, never, never give up trying to learn!
There is always something new to learn.
So, when you start to get a little frustrated, take a deep breath.
Count to 10 and don't try so hard.
It will come, just give it time.

3:52 Motivational Monday

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
-Author Unknown
Yes, there has been times where the raw, undisturbed beauty around us has been breath taking. Leaves that sense of awe on us. But these moments are far less and have been traded for more of these moments.
The things they can come up with a say!
But really there are way more moments this guy takes my breath away. He is always giving so unselfishly.
He is really my better half!

With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts. -Eleanor Roosevelt
What a great quote. Seems like a fitting one for me!
