Girls room part II

Wow, I thought I'd get this up a lot sooner than now... We first started turning this room around from craft room to girls room way back in November. You can read about it here. Sure has a whole different look now.

We replaced the pack and play with an actual crib for Evelynn.

Somewhere in the mean time Ryan got the mirror closet doors repainted and hung.

I finally sat down to make curtains. The supplies were all on hand. More or less I just needed  to make the time to do it. We are still awaiting some down time from Ryan to hang the rod for the curtains above the cubbies. But in the meantime I just grabbed a few thumb tacks and hung them that way. The curtains hide some of my crafty stuff. Feels more clean and the urge to climb and dig from little's is less when it's out of sight.

We now have room for some indoor basket ball. Where the hoop was before, the ball would keep landing in the crib. The hoop will stay in this room until Nolan has his very own room again.(He's sharing with my sister.)
The walls have all been patched from the many holes.  They still need a little sanding. Then a fresh coat of paint. The walls will probably stay white again, with one wall accented with a little pink.
I have been collecting some items that will hang on the walls once the basketball hoop moves into Nolan's room. Bouncing balls and pictures, I don't believe mix very well. One of the items is a picture my sister, Teena, drew of Evelynn as a baby. I've been hunting for a frame and mat. I can't wait to hang it above her crib!

17:52 Red

This spring still is having too many frosty mornings...
But enough sunshine that we have entered into car wash and mud season...
I have a feeling that summer just might be a late this year...
But even if it's late, we only have 4 weeks of school left here! I am looking forward to the end of the school year. The fight to get kids to bed before the sun has set is starting to get a little harder.

Head over Keilah's way to see what kind of red she has captured.
Have a great weekend!

16:52 drink up

It doesn't matter if there is a mountain of snow on the ground, the kids always enjoy a smoothie.
Good to the last drop.
Another favorite of mine right now is Italian Soda's.
(My friend Diana makes the best ones ever!)
Enjoyed while following the doctors orders to put the feet up in the evening.
Continue around the circle to Kendra's world to see she has for you.

Tomorrow I will be at the Birchtree Spring Craft Sale from 10 am to 5 pm, at the Birchtree Charter School in Palmer. Leslie & I will two of the 50 vendors there selling our handmade goods. If you are a local come by, take a look and make sure you stop by to say hello.

15:52 Reflection

Reflection:(noun)
1. the act of reflecting or the state of being reflected. 2. an image; such as in a mirror. 3. a fixing of the thoughts on something; careful consideration. 4. a thought occurring in consideration or meditation.

This weeks photo prompt really had me thinking about the word reflection. I was left wondering what kind of reflection to share with you. This is one of my favorite kinds of reflections! This photo was taken in Seward, Alaska. Seward is one of my all time favorite places to visit in Alaska. It might help that almost the whole drive there is a scenic one.
What a week it has been! Not a whole lot of down time.
To reflect on this past week in thoughts that have came into this head of mine;
Will I have enough patience today? Why am I given this trial? Am I being a good mother? Are each of the kids getting enough one on one attention? Did I give enough hugs and kisses? Why am I arguing with the almost 3 year? How do you discipline that stubborn child? Have I address my husbands needs? What are his needs? Is the next load of laundry going? What should I make for dinner? During what part of the day can I find the time to talk to Ryan about how his day went? Is this snow ever going to melt?  When will spring be here?
Although life right now is a busy whirl wind, that I am forced to follow, I know one day all of this baby busyness will be gone. The teenager stage will be upon me next. Then sending my children off to sprout their own wings. Struggling with an empty nest. With each stage of life I hope that I can see and reflect on how truly blessed I am and how full my life will always be!
Continue on the around the circle to see what Kendra has captured in her reflection.

Stars and Stripes quilt

I made this quilt for my dear aunt, Anita, who is also my Godmother. The goal was to have it complete and at her doorstep for her birthday, but was a couple weeks late.
When Anita lived in Alaska we used to visit over coffee while oohing and aahing over all the beautiful stuff that Country Living magazine had to offer that month. I remember her liking a quilt that was made with just plaid blocks, then straight line quilted over each block to make it look like it was a bunch of strips pieced together. The quilting might have switched directions every other block. I tucked this behind my ear. Knowing and seeing her love for stars grow, the stars then got added to the quilt design also. Just absolutely love the way quilts come out of the dryer! That wrinkle-y, quilted look.
This is the biggest quilt I have made and machine quilted so far. I have to admit the cutting of all the pieces, making the quilt blocks and then quilting the quilt are my most favorite parts to making a quilt. I hope Anita will enjoy this quilt as much as I did dreaming about making it, making the blocks, and then finding the right design to quilt it with. Happy Birthday Anita!

14:52 At Play

We have been playing a lot around here.
It could be that it finally feels like spring might be here.
The card games the Easter bunny brought have been a big hit! We can even find time to play a few games in the morning before school starts.
But the snow has been were the kids have played the most this past week. Except for today (the wind started to blow a little bit here) all 3 kids have been outside playing for the following hour or so after Nolan gets home from school.
Nolan made his own bump on our little sledding hill. The first day I found myself outside watching per Nolan's request to watch them catch air. He even insisted on me taking a little video to watch later.
Naomi chooses to 'play' during nap time. She is a quite person all by herself. I really don't mind her being up since I still get a little quite down time myself. Lately this is where I've had time to catch-up on office work. Naomi follows me where ever I am and will bring what she has picked out to play with.
Painting has been her thing lately.

Now head on over Kendra's way to see what she has found at play.

Weekend wrap

On Saturday we started our weekend by finding all the snowflakes that were still hanging in our house and got rid of them! Nolan wanted to save them to hang next winter. What a sweet child! I quickly told him he'll be 6 then and way better at making snowflakes, so we'll just have to make more. He was content with this.
(I confess, I did tell the kids this is why our snow isn't melting.)
Then we printed off some new coloring sheets to color and hang around the house.
To print your own you can go here. They have so many choices. I typed in the search what I was looking for; sun, flowers, spring.
Our house now feels a little more like spring. The sunshine and blue skies brightened our day also.
Sunday the kids were so excited about the Easter bunny they were up at 7:30 am to see if he came. After they found their baskets and seeing the candy, they no longer wanted to consume any breakfast.  Since we still had hours until church to keep their minds off the sugar, we played Old Maid and Blink.

We attempted a family picture before church.
Looks like we need a little practice on how to keep our eyes open in the sunshine.
Easter Services were so refreshing and uplifting, being surrounded by others singing and listening to the word of God. All my worries and doubts were once again erased. My trust and faith in God was yet again renewed and strength. It was truly a great way to end a week and start another.
